TCU’s Lupton Stadium Improvements

FORT WORTH, Texas –TCU’s Lupton Stadium and Williams-Reilly Field will have a new look in 2009 as four patios down the right-field line, covered porches behind first and third base, and an enhanced sound system will be added in time for the Feb.24 home opener versus Dallas Baptist.

The new features are made possible by the estate of former Horned Frog baseball player Paul Sorrels. A 1941 graduate, Sorrels was a three-year letterman for the Frogs and a standout at third base. Before his death in 2007, Sorrels chose to use his tax-deferred retirement assets to benefit TCU’s baseball program.

The four patios will be known as Paul’s Patios.

“We are very appreciative of Paul Sorrels¹ generosity to the TCU baseball program,” TCU athletics director Danny Morrison said. “Lupton Stadium and Williams-Reilly Field has always been one of the premier college baseball venues in the country. These new features will enhance the game-day atmosphere and family environment.”

The right-field patios include a shaded area and 20 tickets. Patrons can bring their own food. Each patio contains a grill along with tables and chairs. The cost for a single-game rental is $200. A season rate for all 27 regular-season games as well as the Mountain West Conference Tournament is $7,500.

The porches behind first and third base are newly covered this spring. Each porch includes 50 tickets for $350. Extra tickets may be purchased at $7 each. The porches are ideal for corporate outings, birthday parties and sorority and fraternity events.
