Hey Bulls fans! My name is Stephen Hunt (sophomore) from Brandon, Fla., and for the next week I will be writing a daily blog in the hopes of giving the fans some insight into the lives of not only myself, but also my teammates on and off the field.

First off, I want to start by saying that it was very exciting to have the Pittsburg Steelers on campus this past week. It was unbelievable to see how big those guys really are up close. With that being said, my teammate Sean Buckley was unimpressed. The 6 foot, 3 inch rail thin first baseman who commonly refers to himself as “the Spartan” jokingly talks about the ridiculous idea that his body is somewhat comparable to those of Big Ben and Hienz Ward.

School
So far this semester is moving along pretty smoothly in the classroom. I am taking sign language, introduction to communications, weight training and history of technology. All of my classes are at eight in the morning to so that has been a bit of a challenge for me, but so far I have managed to wake up and make it there on time. That being said, one thing has just been eating away at me on the academic side. I can’t seem to get over the fact that Jonathon Koscso beat me out for the Nesquik student-athlete of the week. I mean, let’s be honest, biochemistry is not that hard of a major. Anybody can rock out a 3.9 while taking classes such anatomy and chemistry. I wish Koscso could spend a week trying to pass weight training and sign language. That’s all I have to say about that!

Off the Field
These days, my life and the lives of my teammates off the field is pretty quiet. To be honest, most of the time we just hang out at our apartment and rest up for the next day’s grind. After a day of class, weights, practice and conditioning, most of us just like to relax and watch TV or do homework (actually all of us usually watch TV except for Koscso). Every once in awhile I head next door where Kevin Quackenbush, Todd Brazeal, Zach Pietrzyk and Jon Koscso live. Now and then I will walk in only to get pelted by the semi-automatic Nerf guns that those clowns have stationed around the apartment. As far as my apartment goes, I live with sophomore Doug Wagner and freshman Alex “Big Al” Mendez, and also a 34-year-old Ph.D. student from Libya named Azadeen.

On the Field
Tomorrow starts the first official day of practices and everybody is very excited to get underway. With the season so close, most guys are ready to be done with conditioning and non-mandatory practices. The team is really working well together. Sam Mende and Peter Brotons are really starting to jell up the middle and will be a lot of fun to watch. Lazer and the rest of the pitching staff worked very hard over the break on arm strength and conditioning, and I think we will have the best pitching staff in the BIG EAST this season.
