Hatter fans will be very pleased to hear that Stetson Athletics Director Jeff Altier has announced that the contract of Head Baseball Coach Pete Dunn has been extended through the 2013 season.

“We are very pleased to announce that Coach Dunn will be with us for at least another five years,” said Altier. “His record and his accomplishments here at Stetson speak for themselves.”

Dunn is entering his 30th year as head coach of the Stetson baseball program. He has a career record of 1,070-658-3 which includes 26 seasons with a winning record. He is among the Top-10 active Division I coaches when it comes to career victories. Since his first season in 1980 he has led the Hatters to seven conference championships and 15 NCAA Regional appearances. He has been named Conference Coach of the Year five times.

“I am very happy to extend my contract at Stetson. I made the decision a number of years ago that I wanted to spend my entire coaching career at my alma mater if I would be fortunate enough to have that chance,” said Dunn. “I appreciate the confidence the administration has shown in me over the years, and continues to show in me.”

Dunn was a two-time NCAA All-Star catcher at Stetson in 1968 and 1969. He returned as an assistant coach under Jim Ward in 1977 and was promoted to head coach two seasons later.
