The CBB continues our countdown to the 2009 College Baseball season with our Top 50 players to watch. We will be providing one player each day (Monday-Saturday) until we reach number 1.

We continue the list today with sophomore Kyle Parker from Clemson. He is a 6-0 200 pound infielder/outfielder from Jacksonville Florida and Bartram Trail High School.

Parker came to Clemson in January 2008 as one of the top quarterback recruits in the nation. He entered school early to take part in spring workouts but ended up spending most of the season with the Baseball club solidifying a spot in the everyday lineup. He was able to accumulate a batting average of .303 with 14 homers and 50 RBI in 57 games including 55 starts. He was one of only two freshmen to be named to the All-ACC First Team as he was named the DH/Utility player.

Kyle is the son of former NFL player Carl Parker who played for three different NFL teams during the late 80’s.

His mother Cathy was featured on Outside the Lines as she was influential in raising money for Barrow, Alaska High School to build a new football field.

We believe that Kyle will be able to continue to develop into one of the strongest players in the ACC in the next two season if he wants to focus on college baseball exclusively. It will be an interesting decision to see what happens over the next few years.

NOTE: Parker is on a football scholarship right now so we should see what happens with him over the next two seasons. He might choose to focus on one sport exclusively.
