COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The back-to-back Big 12 champion Texas A&M baseball team signed 10 student-athletes to national letters of intent, head coach Rob Childress announced Monday.

“This strong and versatile class is a tribute to the tireless work that (assistant coaches) Matt (Deggs) and Jeremy (Talbot) put in all year long,” Childress said. “We feel this is a group that will not only fill the needs of our program, but is one that is made up of players that can excel in the tough, hard-nosed style of play that is Aggie baseball.”

The class is made up of nine high school seniors and one junior college player, with all but one hailing from the state of Texas.

“We are really excited about this class as a whole,” assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Jeremy Talbot said. “Of the 10 guys, eight can pitch, so this is a very pitching-heavy class. All of them are very athletic and are strike-throwers. The position players we signed bring a blend of strength and speed that is a big part of Aggie baseball. This is a class that we think can help us continue the tradition of success that we are building at Texas A&M.”

The back-to-back Big 12 Champion Aggies open the 2009 season on Friday, Feb. 20 against Wright State at Olsen Field. Season ticket information is available by calling 1-888-99-AGGIE.
