The UConn Huskies have released their 2009 baseball schedule. The season will kick off February 20-22 with the inaugural Big East/Big 10 Challenge where the Huskies will face off against Michigan State, Ohio State, and Northwestern. The Huskies will then travel to Jacksonville for the North Florida Tournament where they will see games against George Mason, North Florida, and Ohio State February 27-March 1. The RussMatt Invitational in Winter Haven, Florida will be up next for UConn. The week long trip beginning March 7 and ending March 15 will have the Huskies square off against Sacred Heart, Miami (OH), Bowling Green, Toledo, Eastern Kentucky, and Bucknell.
UConn will then hit the road for a couple of mid-week contests against Fairfield (March 16) and Sacred Heart (March 17) before returning to Storrs for the home-opener at J.O. Christian Field for opening weekend of conference play against West Virginia (March 20-22).
Other Big East home series will be South Florida (March 27-29), Georgetown (April 17-19), St. John’s (April 24-26), and Pittsburgh (May 9-10). The Huskies will hit the road for conference series at Seton Hall (April 3-5), Rutgers (April 9-11), Notre Dame (May 1-3), and Villanova (May 14-16). Notable home non-conference games for the Huskies are UMass (March 30), Boston College (April 1), and Brown (April 15). Noteworthy road non-conference games for UConn include games at Yale (March 25), UMass (April 7), Bryant (April 28), and Boston College (May 12).
The Big East Conference tournament will be held in Clearwater, Florida May 19-23.
