Jon Prevost delivered a clutch two-out, two-run single in the top of the eighth inning to lead the Maroon Team to a 16-10 come-from-behind victory in game two of the ULM Blood Series Friday afternoon at Warhawk Field.

The Maroon Team rallied from deficits of 6-1 and 10-6 during the game to tie the best-of-five series at one game each.

Prevost started the rally with a two-run homer to left field in the seventh inning – he finished the game 3-for-6, while Ben Soignier was 4-for-5 with a home run and a double.

Chris Sinclair gave the Maroon Team some insurance runs in the top of the ninth with a monster grand slam off the light pole in right field.

The Maroon Team rallied back from down 6-1 with a five spot in the top of the fifth sparked by Soignier’s two-run homer. The Gold Team answered right back with four runs in the bottom of the frame capped off by Matt Laird’s three-run home run.

Laird is 6-for-9 with seven RBIs through the first two games of the series.

Justin Anderson suffered the loss allowing five runs on four hits in 2.2 innings of work, while Corey Brown picked up the win scattering three hits and allowing one run in 2.2 innings.

Derek Ward tossed the final two innings striking out three and not allowing a hit to pick up the save.

After Maroon starter Keith Christensen walked home a run with the bases loaded in the first inning, Kelvin York unloaded on a 0-1 offering sending the ball screaming over the right-center wall for a grand slam. He followed up his homer with a diving catch in right field the very next inning robbing Will Hardy of extra bases.

Josh Gill took matters into his own hands in the top of the third inning for the Maroon Team stealing home after reaching on a bunt single and moving to third on a Prevost single – Prevost was thrown out at second trying to stretch the hit into a double.

Gill finished the game 4-for-4, scored four times and stole three bases – he is now 5-for-6 in the series.

Josh Chappell quickly increased the Gold lead back out to five runs in the bottom of the frame with a towering home run down the line in left field.

The series continues on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Warhawk Field. The 2008 Sun Belt Champion Warhawks will be honored at the ULM football game against Florida Atlantic on Saturday. Kickoff between the Warhawks and Owls is scheduled for 6 p.m. from Malone Stadium.
