AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Longhorns 2009 baseball schedule will feature 52 games, including 35 home games on 32 home dates, head coach Augie Garrido announced on Wednesday.
The Longhorns will play six weekend series at home, along with their annual split-weekend series against Baylor and Texas A&M.
Texas’ 2009 campaign commences the weekend of Feb. 20-22 with the Longhorns hosting Illinois-Chicago for a four-game series. The squads will play single games on Friday and Sunday and a doubleheader on Saturday.
The Longhorns will play an identical four-game home series the following weekend (Feb. 27-March 1) with Penn State.
Texas plays home Big 12 Conference series against Missouri (March 13-15), Texas Tech (March 27-29), Oklahoma (April 17-19) and Kansas State (April 24-26.).
The Longhorns play Baylor on May 1-3 with the Friday game in Austin and Saturday and Sunday’s contests in Waco. Texas battles Texas A&M in the State Farm Lone Star Showdown on May 8-10 with the Friday game in College Station and Saturday and Sunday’s games in Austin.
The Burnt Orange has road conference series against Kansas (March 20-22), Oklahoma State (April 3-5) and Nebraska (April 9-11).
Texas’ lone non-conference road series is at Stanford on March 6-8.
The Longhorns will once again battle Rice in a home-and-home series with the game for Houston slated for March 17 and the game in Austin scheduled for April 21.
Texas plays another home-and-home against Texas State. The Longhorns will make their first-ever trip to San Marcos on March 3 and host the Bobcats on April 28.
The Longhorns also have non-conference home games scheduled against UT Arlington (Feb. 24), Baylor (March 11), Dallas Baptist (March 25), Oral Roberts (March 31), TCU (April 7), Texas A&M Corpus Christi (April 14-15), Texas Southern (May 6) and Alabama A&M (doubleheader on May 16).
The 2009 Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship is once again slated for AT&T Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City on May 20-24.
