Men’s Baseball to Play Inter-Squad at AT&T Park
All Saint Mary’s baseball fans are being invited to a special treat, as this Wednesday, October 15, the Gaels baseball team will hold an inter-squad scrimmage at AT&T Park home of the San Francisco Giants.
The team is scheduled to begin batting practice at 1:30 PM, with the game scheduled to start tentatively around 2:15. Fans are encouraged to park in the parking lot behind McCovey Cove. FULL STORY
Baseball Enters Final Game of Blue/White World Series
The University of Connecticut baseball team enters its final game of the annual Blue/White World Series on Tuesday afternoon as the series is tied 1-1 after the two weekend games. Game time is set for 3:00 at J.O. Christian Field.
The Huskies, who were separated into two teams will finish their fall season with the deciding game. Tonight’s game will be a seven inning-game beginning at 3:00 p.m. FULL STORY
R/W Game Two Set for Tuesday
Game two of the Red/White Series has been rescheduled for Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in Norman. The contest was postponed earlier today and set for a 2:30 p.m. first pitch on Wednesday because of inclement weather, but was added back to the schedule for its original time.
All games are played at L. Dale Mitchell Park and are free and open to the public.
The Red team took a 1-0 lead in the five-game series with a 3-1 victory on Monday. Garrett Richards made the start on the mound and earned the victory after striking out five and allowing just two hits in four innings of action. He was relieved by Ryan Duke, who was equally impressive with seven strikeouts over the final three frames to record the save. FULL STORY

Blue Raiders prepare for Blue and White Series
Middle Tennessee’s baseball program will play its annual Blue and White Series beginning on Saturday, Oct. 18 as announced by head coach Steve Peterson.
The first game of the three-game series will be held on Saturday at 11:45 at the newly renovated Reese Smith Field.
Game two will be on Sunday, Oct. 19 at 11:45 with the team having Monday off before the final game of the series on Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 2:45 p.m. FULL STORY
Tiger Baseball to Play Three Orange & Purple Games From October 24-26
Clemson will play three Orange & Purple baseball scrimmages at Doug Kingsmore Stadium starting Friday, October 24. Admission is free to all three games. On October 24, the first of three scrimmages will be held at 6:00 PM. The second scrimmage will take place on Saturday, October 25 at 1:00 PM. The final scrimmage will be on Sunday, October 26 at 1:00 PM. The intrasquad scrimmages will conclude fall practice. The Tigers will open the 2009 season on February 20 at home against Charlotte. Two Matadors Players Receive Horizon Air Summer Series Honors
Matador first baseman Richard Cates and catcher John Parham were named to the Horizon Air Summer Series Baseball Honors List for their play as members of the Humboldt Crabs this past summer.
Cates was named to the First Team Honors list while Parham was one of thirty players in the fifteen-team league named to the Honorable Mention list, the second consecutive season Parham has received such distinction.
As a utility player for the Crabs, Cates hit .325, the third-highest average on the team, one home run, and accumulated 30 RBI as he started in all 41 games that he played in last season. FULL STORY
Samford Baseball Holds Annual Scout Day
he Samford baseball program held its annual Scout Day Tuesday evening at Joe Lee Griffin Field.
Twenty professional scouts showed up for the pro-style workout. The Samford players were timed in the 60-yard dash, and went through batting practice and fielding practice. FULL STORY
Game Six Postponed
Game six of the Shocker Fall World Series has been postponed due to poor weather conditions. The game will be played at 3 p.m. on Wed., Oct. 15. If a game seven is necessary, it will be played at 7 p.m. on Wed., Oct. 15.
Baseball team ready to hold Hokie Fall World Series
BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech baseball team will conclude its fall practice schedule this weekend by holding the annual Hokie Fall World Series, a three-game intrasquad affair that will take place at English Field.
The to-be-determined Orange and Maroon squads will face off three times on Oct. 17-19. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday, while Sunday’s game will begin at 4 p.m.
The series is not a best-of-three event – all three games will be played. Should one team win the first two contests, the 0-2 team can still claim the series if it outscores the 2-0 team in game three by more than the combined deficit that it lost by in the first two games. FULL STORY
Upstate Baseball Will Hold Alumni Game On Nov. 1
Once again, the USC Upstate baseball team will take an afternoon to look back, as the 2009 team will face off against Spartan alumni in the annual Alumni Game on Sat., Nov. 3 at 1 p.m. at Harley Park.
“The alumni game is the only opportunity the current team has in the fall to play what could be considered outside competition,” 12th-year head coach Matt Fincher, the program’s all-time leader in wins, said, “so it breaks the monotony of intersquad games. More importantly, it does give us an opportunity to stay connected to our alumni. It gives the players that are in the program now an opportunity to meet and speak to players that have been here previously.
“It’s a primary way that we try to grow the program because we want people who’ve been here previously to stay connected. The alumni enjoy coming out once a year and playing and I think they like getting a sneak preview of what we might be like in the spring. Basically, we just get to be out playing baseball and have a very enjoyable day.” FULL STORY
