Augie and Company have already started on the “Road to Omaha”. Today’s intrasquad scrimmage was held at the Dell Diamond due to Dish Falk Field turf being replace with Field Turf. This is the third straight fall that Texas has had to use the Round Rock Express facility as the last two years Disch-Falk Field was being remodel.

The scrimmage took place in front of about 12-15 scouts. It was open to the public so, I took advantage of a fantastic late summer afternoon to go and watch some College Baseball.

The intrasquad scrimmage was a 7 inning affair with Chance Ruffin (#31) and Austin Wood (#44) getting the start for the White and Orange respectively. Ruffin and Wood both worked two innings and the only hit given up was on a single by Russell Moldenhuaer off of Ruffin. Brandon Workman (#12) came into the game for the Orange in the 3rd inning and 4th inning. Brandon seemed to be in complete control out on the mound. Riley Boening came into the 3rd as well for the White Team and he seemed to be back in full health after missing all of ’07 with a shoulder surgery.

A couple of freshmen stood out  in shortstop Brandon Loy who had two stolen bases and a single to start his career off at UT. The other freshman to stand out was Jordan Etier 2b was really hustling out their at 2b and on the base path.

The Orange team ended up knocking off the White squad 5-0.
