The Villanova Wildcats hired Jim Carone as the new pitching coach. He comes to Villanova after spending the last two seasons with Rider. He brought Rider to the NCAA Tourney in 2008 where they participated in the NCAA Regional at Fullerton. Carone played for Monmouth during his collegiate days where he accumulated a record of 17-11 with a 3.67 ERA in 245 innings of work.

Carone should be able to make an impact on the Wildcats pitching staff which finished with the third worst ERA in the Big East conference at 5.58. The Villanova pitching staff did not impress me last season when I saw them against UConn. (Full Report) The pitching staff looked like they needed a new voice to lead the squad and this move by Carone can only help them get better.
