Wofford College announced the 2009 baseball schedule today, which is highlighted by a home games against Virginia Tech and South Carolina. Road trips to Clemson, Georgia, Duke and North Carolina State are also included during the season which will be the second for Todd Interdonato as head coach of the Terriers.
The Terriers will play a total of 54 games, including 31 contests at Russell C. King Field on the Wofford campus. The season will begin against SIU-Edwardsville on February 20, a doubleheader against Virginia Tech on February 21 and a single game against UNC Asheville on February 22. The weekend’s game will be held in conjunction with USC Upstate as part of the Courtyard by Marriott Classic.
Wofford will travel to Clemson on February 25, followed by a home game against USC Upstate and a weekend series against Xavier. On March 4, the Terriers will take on the Bulldogs in Athens. The Southern Conference slate begins on March 6 with a trip to the newest member of the league, Samford.
Following a trip to Columbia to play the Gamecocks on March 11, Wofford will host Fordham for a weekend series at King Field. The first home conference series will begin March 20 against Davidson, followed by a series against Western Carolina the next weekend. The conference weeks continue at The Citadel and against UNC Greensboro.
On April 14, the Terriers will begin a two-game swing on Tobacco Road with a visit to North Carolina State. The next day, Wofford will play at Duke. Conference play continues at home against Furman on April 17, with a quick home-and-home with Presbyterian College on April 21 and 22. Trips to Elon and Appalachian State will be followed by South Carolina at King Field on May 6.
A visit from College of Charleston beginning on May 8 and a trip to Georgia Southern complete the regular season schedule. The Southern Conference Tournament will be held from May 19-24 at Fluor Field in Greenville, South Carolina.
