The Brazos Valley Bombers were unable to get back on the winning track, as they lost the Coppell Copperheads by a score of 6-4. Trailing by three runs entering the bottom of the ninth inning, the Bombers rallied and scored a run to close the gap, but they were unable to come from behind.

After the Copperheads struck first to begin the game, the Bombers pieced together three hits in the bottom of the first inning to tie up the game. With Zach Grichor on second base, Nick Anders lined Josh Thomason’s first pitch into the left field gap for an RBI double.

The Copperheads scored another run in the top of the second to take a 2-1 lead, but Bombers pitcher Sam Strickland avoided further damage, as he got Runey Davis to ground into a double play with the bases loaded to end the inning. The score stood still at 2-1 until the fifth inning, when the Bombers provided a bite of their own. With Nick Anders and Trey Sperring on base, Taylor Zambreski delivered a line drive into center field that scored both runners to give the Bombers the 3-2 lead.

Coppell came right back with two runs of their own in the next half inning on Robert Barbosa’s single to take back the lead, 4-3. The Copperheads scored two more to extend their lead to 6-3, where the score stood for the rest of the game. The Bombers will try to even up the series with Coppell tomorrow with Jacob Liedka, who will be making his 3rd start of the season. Zach Grichor was the College Station Orthopaedics Player of the Game for the Bombers after going 4-for-4 with two runs scored and a walk.
