Pac-10 Conference

The Pac-10 Conference concluded the 24 game conference season this Memorial Day Weekend and after defeating Arizona on Thursday night, the Arizona State Sun Devils clinched their second straight conference title. Stanford finished second, UCLA finished third. Arizona, CAL, Washington, Oregon State, USC and Washington State wrap up the standings.

Five Pac-10 schools were selected by the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee to participate in the postseason, and given a chance to head to Omaha. Arizona, Arizona State, California, Stanford and UCLA were invited, while two time defending National Champion Oregon State was left out despite a three game sweep of Pacific to conclude its season.

Arizona State finished the regular season with the best team batting average (.339), while Arizona finished with the best team ERA (3.91). Stanford was the best fielding team with a .975 fielding percentage.

Potential first round draft pick Brett Wallace of Arizona State leads in almost every single offensive category, and after winning the triple crown last year, he leads the league in batting average (.412), RBI’s (78) and HR’s (20). Wallace also is tops in hits (89), runs scored (77), total bases (165). Ike Davis of ASU leads in doubles with 25, while Jason Kipnis of ASU has 6 triples and 22 stolen bases. Petey Paramore of ASU drew the most walks (52).

For pitching numbers Kevin Miller of CAL has the best ERA at 2.56 while holding opponents to a .186 batting average. Tommy Rafferty of ASU won 11 ball games. Mike Leake of ASU pitched the most inning (104.2). Tim Murphy of UCLA and Nick Haughian of Washington both recorded 107 strikeouts. Brendan Lafferty of UCLA and Daniel Schlereth of Arizona both made 31 appearances on the mound. Kevin Rhoderick of Oregon State recorded 12 saves. Josh Satow of ASU started 16 games. Tim Murphy pitched 2 shutouts while Erik Davis of Stanford threw 4 complete games.
