Grantham, Hill Claim Weekly Baseball Honors for May 12th

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Senior shortstop Jeff Grantham of St. John’s has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week, while junior RHP Michael Hill of Cincinnati has been named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week.

Grantham was 10-for-19 (.526) in a 4-1 week for the Red Storm. He scored four times and drove in seven on the strength of three doubles and a home run. In Game 2 against USF, Gratham led off the 10th inning with a walk-off home run, giving STJ a 4-3 win.

Hill hurled a three-hit complete game in leading the Bearcats to a 7-1 win over Seton Hall. He surrendered only three singles and one run, while striking out a career-high 10 batters. Hill retired the final 13 Pirates he faced. He also became the first UC pitcher since 1999 to strike out four batters in one inning.
