More info on the Region II tournament, courtesy of “SGAstumpJ” and “Region Two” on the http://baseball.victorysportsnetwork.com/ message board:

In game 1, Goins threw all 10 innings and 150 pitchers in the losing effort and final game of his very impressive career at CBU.

In game 2, Point Loma had APU early but a Kirk Neiwenheis (?) grand slam put APU up 6-5 and they went on to win 9-5

In game 3, Biola played some shaky defense and a couple of Fresno home runs powered them to the 8-5 victory. Biola left the bases loaded in the 8th and grounded into a double play in the 9th.

Thursday’s action:

Game 7: Azusa Pacific vs. Fresno Pacific, 11:00
Game 8: Biola vs. Concordia, 2:15 (or 30 minutes after Game 7)
Game 9: APU/FPU loser vs. BU/CUI winner, 5:30 (or 30 minutes after Game 8 )

More info on Region XIV from “teamjp”:

In the only close game of the three-day tournament, Embry-Riddle wins the Region XIV Championship by a score of 4-3. The title is the sixth in the last seven years for the Eagles.

John Keravich pitches 4.2 scoreless innings out of the bullpen to get the win. Aaron Varnum gets the final three outs of the game to post his 12th save of the year.
