The College Baseball Blog and StatStud.com have teamed up this season to bring a weekly award for the top players in the last week. We will select one pitcher and hitter every week throughout the regular season. This week the Pitcher of the Week is Kenn Kasparek of Texas while our hitter of the week is Drew Heid of Gonzaga.
Kenn Kasparek of Texas picks up our Pitcher of the Week with an outstanding week. He pitched a nine inning no-hitter on Tuesday in a 11-0 victory over Texas State. He followed that up on Sunday where he pitched eight scoreless innings while allowing three hits and one walk in a 2-0 victory over Baylor. He had a record of 2-0 with 18 strikeouts in 17 innings where he failed to allow a run. He held his opponents to a .057 average.
Drew Heid of Gonzags picks up our Player of the Week award after leading the Gonzaga Bulldogs to a record of 3-2 with two victories over two-time defending national champion Oregon State. He led the Bulldogs with a .558 average by going 10-17 over the week including going 5-10 in the two game sweep over the Beavers during the beginning of the week. He also drove in four runs and scoring seven runs for the week.
