CBB and StatStud.com Players of the Week for April 21st

The College Baseball Blog and StatStud.com have teamed up this season to bring a weekly award for the top players in the last week. We will select one pitcher and hitter every week throughout the regular season. This week David Stokes of Liberty is our selection for Pitcher of the Week while Rob Lyerly of Charlotte grabs the Player of the Week award.

David Stokes is a 6 foot 8 inch senior from Locust Georgia who has become the ace of the Flames pitching staff. He pitched eight strong innings on Friday in a 8-0 Liberty victory over VMI. He allowed five hits and one walk while striking out eight batters to up his record to 5-3 on the season.

Rob Lyerly had a career day on Saturday as he went 6-6 with three homers, two doubles, and a ninth inning triple that barely missed being his fourth homer while recording six RBI on Saturday in a 24-6 victory for the Charlotte 49ers over UMass on Saturday. On Sunday, he hit another homer to bring his weekend stats to .642 average with four homers, and three doubles.
