Lubbock Christian wins double-header vs. Oklahoma City

Chris HolguinThe Lubbock Christian Chaparrals, ranked #2 in the NAIA, ran their winning streak to 27 games by defeating fifth-ranked Oklahoma City 8-3 and 6-0.

In the first game, the Chaparrals got all the runs they needed in the first inning, on a sacrifice fly by Rob Learned, a two-RBI single by Jaime Armendariz, and an RBI single by Chase Robertson. Gary Poynter got the win.

In the second game, Chris Holguin pitched a seven-inning complete game shutout, allowed five hits, and struck out 14, including five straight.

These two teams play one more game on Saturday, at 1 PM CDT. It will be webcast by the Texas Sports Radio Network.

In another key NAIA matchup, #11 Embry-Riddle defeated #16 Northwood (FL) 4-3. The Eagles trailed going into the ninth inning, but Colin Gray hit a triple to bring in the tying run, then was singled in by Eric Ogden. Story from Embry-Riddle site: Late Comeback leads Eagles over Northwood, 4-3.
