BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – For the second time this season, Ouachita Baptist senior catcher Jim Streicher was selected Tuesday as the Gulf South Conference West Division Player of the Week.
Streicher, who first earned the award on March 11, had a banner week for the Tigers last week as Ouachita Baptist went 2-2. The Cincinnati, Ohio native batted .727 with a slugging percentage of 1.636. He also had an on-base percentage of .833. In 11 at-bats, Streicher scored seven times with eight hits and drove in four.
Last season he had just one home run and this season he has amassed six round trippers, including three last week (Augustana and two against Harding). He also hit safely in all four games.
Earning the Gulf South Conference West Division Pitcher of the Week award was Southern Arkansas’ Hayden Simpson.
