The University of Massachusetts Minutemen opened their season with a trip to Number 1 ranked Arizona State for a three game set. I found it very odd that UMass waited so long to open their season instead of opening like most of the teams around the country on February 22nd. Anyways, UMass gave the Sun Devils a run for the money in each game of the weekend but always came up empty at the end including being tied in the bottom of the eighth 4-4 before giving up nine runs to effectively end the game. Our good buddy Eli Rosenswaike provides an excellent recap of the weekend from Umass’ perspective. His full article is available here.
