The Boston College Eagles knocked off the Florida International Panthers 7-3 behind a strong pitching performance from Nick Asselin as he went seven strong innings while allowing only three hits and three unearned runs to pick up his first victory of the season to put his overall record at 1-1. Mike Augustine of Boston College hit his first homer of the year in the second inning while Barry Butera hit his third of the year in the seventh inning to give Boston College a 3-2 lead which they would give right back to the Panthers in the bottom of the inning in which Eric Campbell committed his second error of the game which led to the tying run scoring. The Eagles blew the game open in the eighth when Miami resident Tony Sanchez hit an RBI double to drive home Mike Sudol from second base with the tiebreaking run. Eric Campbell then proceeded to drive home Sanchez with a single up through the left side while taking second base on the throw. Mickey Walsall followed with a single to center which brought Campbell home with Wiswall taking second on the throw and ending up on third base as the throw got away. He would score on a pass ball to set up the final scoreline of 7-3. Steven Cadoret pitched a perfect eighth inning and sophomore pitcher Chris Kowalski struck out two out of three hitters in the ninth to secure the Eagles fifth win of the year against three losses. They will be back in action tomorrow night at Florida Atlantic while FIU drops to 4-6 on the year with their next game against Maine on Wednesday.
