CBB and StatStud.com Players of the Week for Feb. 25th

The College Baseball Blog and StatStud.com have teamed up this season to bring a weekly award for the top players in the last week. We will select one pitcher and hitter every week throughout the regular season. Here is our first installment.

Andrew Liebel (Long Beach State)

Andrew Liebel was solid in his first start of the season with eight shutout innings while striking out 11 batters. He allowed five hits and only one walk to the Rice Owls on Friday evening. The Dirtbags ended up winning the game 1-0 in ten innings behind the strong pitching of Liebel and the bullpen.

Dustin Ackley (UNC)

North Carolina sophomore Dustin Ackley picked up where he left off in 2007 hitting .714 (10-14) over the first three games leading the Tar Heels to a 3-0 record against FAU. He ended up hitting three homers and driving in seven runs over the weekend.
