The Hawaii-Hilo Vulcans salvaged Game 3 of their series with the University of Hawaii with a 4-3 victory. They were led by Shane Kessel who went 2-4 with 2 RBI. Kekoa Lee pitched 5.1 strong innings while allowing only two runs on five hits. Dustin Gilmore shut down the Warriors offense over the final two innings to pick up his first save of the season. Hawaii-Hilo will head home to host Kansas in the Jayhawks home opener. Hawaii will stay home next weekend when San Francisco visits for a four game set over three days.

Any scouting reports on Hawaii-Hilo would be much appreciated. KU has a series with the Vulcans starting on Friday and there does not seem to be much information about the team on the internet yet.

Not a very good team. Lost their number 1 starter in Lars Knepper. This victory over the Hawaii Rainbows was the first in their last 15 tries.

Thanks Brian. As UHH hung close all weekend with Hawaii I wondered if they had a more competitive team this year. I know they finished 2007 ranked in the bottom 10% according to the RPI.
